Joy’s Story

Site created on May 8, 2023

Welcome to our Caring Bridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
After breast biopsy on May 4 Joy received a breast cancer diagnosis. We are still learning more  information about the cancer and have a consultation with a surgeon on Wednesday of this week. We know there will be a lot of overwhelming information to follow and will update here as we are able.  With many weighty decisions coming we would appreciate prayers. We are trusting the Lord to reveal a clear picture and give wisdom for treatment.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Joy Flake

Posting this update today realizing it has been since the end of December since I have posted one. There hasn’t really been much that has been going on to update about. I continue to have my targeted infusions every 21 days, and I’ve been counting down. I’m so grateful to be able to participate in life and taking on the things I used to do. Today Julia was able to come with me for my infusion and keep me company since she is finished with her classes for the year. There are only 2 more with the last one scheduled for June 5th. It’s hard to believe I am almost finished. My health continues to be stable and I am so very grateful for feeling well and trying to work on getting in shape as I’ve lost a lot of strength. It is slow going. Being able to paint every week is such a gift that I’m enjoying and I just completed my first commission!

Praising God for good health and some normalcy these last few months!
Praising God that he has shown his goodness to me and carried me through this journey in my health and my faith!
Praying for my mammogram to be clear tomorrow
