Joy’s Story

Joy was seen at Fairview Ridges Hospital on Monday, June 25 with severe back pain.  They said that she had a bladder infection and gave her pain medicine and antibiotics.  Upon further discussion about the back pain, they decided to do a CT scan where they found a herniated disc in her back.  They wanted to investigate this further and they proceeded to admit her to the hospital because of the pain.  They did an MRI and found that she had fluid build up between  her L4/L5 discs with it bulging out.  They did not know what this fluid could be.  Unfortunately when they did the MRI they did not use contrast and she had to have another one on Tuesday.  The results were pretty much the same, indicating that she has an infection in that area of her spine.  She was then transferred to Fairview Southdale on Wednesday to be cared for by neurosurgery and infectious disease.  Mom continues to be in a lot of pain and is limited in what she can do at this time.  We are praying for continued strength and healing.
