It’s so crazy to me how well my mom is handling this hand she has been dealt with. She has not complained one single time. She is a warrior and I am so proud of her. As we sit here today as she is receiving fluids in preparation for starting her 5th week of chemo and radiation and we have some updates for you. Let’s go back to a couple of weeks ago.

Week 3-

Although this was a ‘short week’ of chemo. It sure didn’t feel like it! This was a rough week for my mom, she was very tired and couldn’t get enough sleep. She was very nauseous and just couldn’t seem to get a hold of her stomach issues. We both were hooked up that week together and it was a very crazy feeling getting unhooked together. Everyone always jokes that my mom and I are twins and do everything together but jeez. Did we have to do chemo together too? It’s a very bizarre feeling for both of us and we often talk about how are we here and why is this happening and just wow.

Let’s jump to week 4-

This past week, my mom decided to try a liter of fluids before getting hooked up. This has been a helpful step during my treatment, and we were hoping it would be similar for my mom. It seemed to help with nausea at the beginning of the week. However, she was still fighting stomach issues and nausea towards the end of the week. She has started taking naps daily which seems to help with how tired she has been feeling. By 8:00 every night she is ready for bed and will be sound asleep within minutes. One thing that has never changed throughout the last 4 weeks has been her spirit. She has not complained much at all.

Again I really can’t say it enough how amazing my mom is doing during this nightmare but she is almost done! Today as we are sitting here she has completed her 20th day of radiation and only has 8 left!! Holy moly she is almost done.

In the words of Joycie girl, one day at a time.
