Journal entry by Laurie Streszoff

Hello to all the family, friends, co-workers and others who have followed the Journey 4 Jack over the past 15 months or so!  I want to personally apologize for such a lapse in communication, but if I may....as the saying goes "no news is good news" certainly applies!

To start, Jack & Amy absolutely requested that I let you ALL know how eternally grateful they are for the love, prayers, positive energy, encouragement, monetary donations, food, help with the kids and support of Jack's duties at work while we was out, etc....They could not have gotten this far on the journey without all of the ways you have shown the love of God and the hands and feet of Christ here on earth!  THANK YOU!

The first piece of great news is that Jack returned to work at Progressive on March 31st!  He is elated to be back and looks forward to going to work every day.  He is so appreciative of the caring, patient and supportive people he is surrounded by at work.

Jack has had follow-up lung scans every 3 months since the end of chemotherapy treatment and his amputation which leads to the next great news - each scan has shown improvement.  Most recently, he was told that the nodules they are watching are becoming calcified which is apparently means that the nodules won't continue to grow.  YAY!

In regard to Jack's prosthetic, he is overall doing really well!  When dressed in long pants, you would never know what he has been through and he walks like a champ!  He has had some very recent challenges, though, as he can tell it is time for a new prosthetic and this has caused a sore on the bottom of his amputed leg due to the rubbing from the prosthetic.  He was directed by his doctor to have an MRI to be sure nothing is going on inside of his leg - just to be sure.

Jack has overcome so much along this journey, as you all know!  He is so grateful to have most of it behind him.  However, he does continue to struggle with the challenges of bilateral neuropathy in his hands, most likely caused by the high-dose chemotherapy treatments.  He gets some relief from the medication he takes and realizes the medication is necessary for him to be able to function.

The Faup Family is strong and they are all looking forward to a much more "normal" summer this year with Jack being present at all three boys' baseball games, returning to his annual Dave Matthews Band concert with his sister and whatever spare time there is after that - simply enjoy family time!  As always - please remember the words that kept Jack inspired to fight - "let go and let God"!  Life is a gift!
