Journal entry by Beth schmieg —
Today Josh met with the rheumatologist and the infectious disease doctor. They have come to the decision that whatever the infection was, it was helped by the multiple doses of antibiotics. They ran over 20 tests... all of these were negative.
However they are still unsure about his inflammatory markers increasing/ staying elevated. So today the decision was made that he would experiment with an FDA approved shot that is intended for atypical Rheumatoid arthritis and gout. If it is going to work we should know within 24 hours. This would be a fast test to see if the pain and inflammation respond to Rheumatoid medications; if so he would be able to switch to something more convenient. Thank you for all your prayers. The answers are still vague at best, but they are all we have. We are just praying the infection does not return.
