Blueberry Bushes! We are thanking God for blueberry bushes! And for snowstorms and rescheduled meetings and for friends.
We knew March would be a tough month as Josh and Megan put their house on the market. But God has given the gift of blueberry bushes to encourage our hearts. One of Josh's (admittedly small) joys that he has missed since the accident is caring for his blueberries. Last week he entered his house for the first time since the accident, and the last time ever. Having recently moved ourselves, we know how gut-wrenching that event, alone, can be.
But the day after 10 of his GMP friends took off work to help him move his things (postponed by a snowstorm during which they could not take off), Josh finally started vocational therapy. And, guess what - he is tending rows and rows of blueberry bushes! What a gift! He is working 12 hours/week at an organic fruit and vegetable farm. All parties agree, he had a great first week, working competently and thoroughly.
Also, last week we were able to be with him in NH and meet his housemates. He cooked us breakfast and very gently and kindly encouraged his friends to tell us their stories. We drove the 6 mile (and often more!) loop he walks through semi-rural, very hilly, residential neighborhoods. Now we know what his GPS is showing us when he is exercising. And we were able to do an important meeting in person with him that was originally scheduled to be on Zoom. When we needed to get back on the road, one of his friends returned him to Robin Hill Farm. We're grateful for how God seems to have re-worked our trip.
