Journal entry by Jami Ludens —
4 weeks ago was the day that changed our lives forever, the day Josh was TBoned at 60 mph. I’m not going to lie, the past month has been full of ups and downs, so many emotions and what if’s.
Who would have thought we’d see such remarkable progress so quickly. He is truly a miracle, I believe Josh can do anything! You would never know to look at Josh now what he’s been through and how far he’s come. He’s had an incredible attitude throughout. We are forever grateful for the way this journey has turned out. We do know that there is still healing going on in his body and brain but he’s going about his life doing the things he feels comfortable doing. He’s even back at the gym, sling and all.
The orthopedic surgeon thinks his clavicle is healing fine, no surgery needed. One more follow up appointment in July to confirm this.
He’s had a few occupational, physical and speech therapy sessions and Josh is already scoring above average in most areas so we think we’re wrapping up with therapy already, we’ll find out for sure on Wednesday. The things that Josh has trouble with are things that the average person would find very difficult as well.
Josh plans to start back to work on Tuesday, exactly one month from the accident. He’ll start with half a day and see how that goes but have I mentioned how incredible Josh has been? We won’t push anything and I’m sure it will take a while to work up to full days filled with activity but right now it’s nothing but steps in the right direction.
Mike and I are filled with gratitude these days and it’s a great place to be. We’re so humbled with how many people have had our family in their thoughts and prayers! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
