Journal entry by Joseph Thurston —
I am sitting here with my 87 year old mother. She is dying, hospice comes in once a day and gives her a bath. She is in a lot of pain. I’m a Vet myself, as was my dad. He spent 24 years in the Army. He died in 2003 , since that time my younger brother and I have cared for my mother. This heartbreaking and stressful. We have reached out to other agencies to try to get more help with mom. But we have been turned down. I have a very bad back that was originally occurred while I was in the Army, in Korea in 1973. I myself have never received any compasarían for my injury. I could sure use some help moving my mom around. Because of the lack of help, I’m in horrible pain on a day to day basis.
