Perhaps the last Caring Bridge update on Joe's open heart surgery: at cardiac rehab, Joe pushed himself until he was exhausted, and his EKG, pulse, and blood pressure all stayed normal. So his heart is working well! The doctors and PTs are impressed with his recovery. That said, his bone, muscle, nerves and such that the surgeons had to cut to get to his heart all still have a lot of healing to do. He is pushing himself to work, but still tires easily and deeply - frustrating but expected. He won't be at capacity for a time, but is already much stronger than before the surgery. Joe is very grateful and humbled by all your support. Thank you all so much for all you've done to help him get to this healing point, and all that you will do moving forward. Your caring makes all the difference.
