Journal
A few years back, a song contained the lyrics, "Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?" That's how I felt after this week's appointment. My light chains (cancer markers) continue to go up slowly, so we are moving forward with the CAR-T. Needless to say, it has greatly complicated my plans for the next 6 months. Starting the first week of June, I will begin tests to ensure I am up for this procedure. At the end of June, they will take out my T-Cells and send them off to be genetically modified. The rest of the summer will be spent doing more tests, colonoscopy, counseling, etc. Then, sometime in September (hopefully after Maggie is born), I will go into the hospital for several weeks. The side effects of this treatment can be pretty rough, but once done, it can give several years of progression-free life.
While waiting to get my labs done, I was able to fellowship with a fellow believer who had recently been diagnosed with the same cancer. We could rejoice together for what God has done in our lives.
Pray that all the hurdles will be cleared, including insurance approval and the physical tests.
