Journal entry by Joseph Milioni —
Timing is everything. This week, I met with my doctor and concluded that if my numbers went up again, it meant a trend and that my current treatment wasn't working. If that happened, then we would begin the process of getting into a new treatment. Because I have both multiple myeloma and amyloidosis, it is a little more complicated because I don't qualify for a lot of the clinical trials. Since I was first diagnosed, I have been studying the potential of car-t therapy. Last week, the FDA approved the most effective version for patients like me. All that to say, my numbers did go up, but only slightly. The timing is complicated because we have to switch insurances, and the new one starts next week. Timing is complicated with a new granddaughter on the way, and CAR-t would require Ladaere and I to be away from home for at least 30 days to monitor complications. We continue to put our trust in the one who controls time.
Pray for wisdom on timing for the next steps and that everything will go smoothly when arranging the treatment.
