Journal entry by Melessa Swanda —
Hello Family and Friends,
We had a pretty good stretch there but unfortunately Dad is back in the hospital.
He started feeling weak and very fatigued yesterday (11/11) so had his doctor check his hemoglobin levels while he was there for a regular appointment. His levels were quite low again so he was advised to go back to United Hospital to be treated. Dad was admitted last night while they ran a few tests. Staff assumed it was the same issue he had a month ago - holes in his GI tract causing internal bleeding.
This morning (11/12) dad had a GI scope with the assumption that they would cauterize the holes; however, they did not find anything. Dad received one unit of blood to bring his hemoglobin levels up to 8.6. He will have additional tests done today and will likely receive one more transfusion to get his levels closer to 10.
I will update again as I have more info.
