Journal entry by Kari Van Wyk —
It’s been a while since I’ve done an update so I thought I’d hop on and fill you all in.
Jordin is back to doing occupational therapy but with a Burn specialist. She used to work at the burn unit in Iowa City so she has great experience with injuries like Jordin's. He sees a lot of success when going there as they continually work on loosening up the scars. She has become a great resource for Jordin when it comes to any questions or concerns he has regarding his burns. She told him this summer it will be very important he stays fully covered from the sun, but after this summer he should be clear to go back to wearing shorts showing some skin (still being very careful though.)
He was supposed to get Laser treatments back in February, but due to insurance it got moved and he will hopefully be getting that done in Iowa City in May. The Laser treatments should help break down the scaring so he isn’t so tight and also help with the color of his skin. It will take his grafts about a year to mature so he will continue wearing compression garments on his legs, arms and hands.
He’s been back to work, working on fence other things around the farm. He will be returning back to pig chores soon as he doesn’t have any open wounds anymore. He is looking forward to planting season.
He is finally able to tolerate the showers and actually stays in there longer than he needs to as if finally feels good again.
We can’t thank you all enough for the constant prayers. God has been so good through this whole journey. Continue praying for strength, range of motion, and for the tingling and itching to go away.
