Hi, Everyone and Happy New Year!

Thank you for all your prayers and concerns over the years.

I wanted to send out a quick update as I have met with my oncologist recently and all tests look good!  I have been almost 1.5 years with no evidence of cancer.  The long term prognosis continues to look good.

It was 2.5 years ago that I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma.  I had a year of treatment using immunotherapy.  This is where the infusions I received activated my immune system to recognize the melanoma as bad and kill it.

I am grateful to the scientist and medical communities for all of their professionalism and efforts.  I am grateful to God for the peace He has given me throughout.  I am grateful for all of my friends and family.

They are continuing to improve immunotherapy.  Finding out ways for more people to have a positive response to the drugs as well as ways it can work with other cancers.  I continue to think about and pray for those who are going through similar challenges and hope them all the best.

I will continue to be scanned for at least another 7 years.  From what I understand there is only 8-9 years of data for this type of treatment as it is still relatively new.

My next major milestones will be 2 year and 3 year goals of no evidence of cancer.  At these points, long term prognosis continues to improve with most people showing no signs of cancer.  Even if stuff does come back it sounds like there could still be the same or similar treatment options available.

Thank you again for your prayers and concerns.  This season has helped show me what is truly important.  Although scan times can be a little unsettling I do look forward to them because, first of all, I love the fact that we can see so much so early and potentially catch something before it gets out of hand.  Secondly, it reminds me of how fortunate I am and how much people cared about me and my family.  It's not something I want to forget.
