Jonathan’s Story

Site created on October 11, 2022

Welcome to Jon and Brianna's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, prayers, words of hope, and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

At this time, especially during and the few weeks after surgery, please refrain if possible from contacting Brianna and Jon for any updates. I (Natalie Rogotzke - Brianna's older sister) will be keeping this CaringBridge updated as much as possible. Please leave any comments or questions under the journal entries and I will answer as I am able.

If you are looking for a way to help they currently have a meal train at  https://mealtrain.com/2e8ko7 . They will possibly also need someone to drive them due to Brianna's recent seizure (see journal entry) and after Jon's surgery, they will both be unable to drive. After surgery, they may need help with getting a ride to places. If you would like to be added to a list of people who are able to drive them to appointments at the U of M or to other places please text me at 612-720-9560.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Natalie Rogotzke

Hello all,

So a few months later I have decided to do a final update if anyone is still reading/following Jon and Brianna's journey.

Jon is doing well and is adapting to his hearing aids that he received to bring the sound that is on the left side of his head to the right side. He is liking them so far and are helpful in certain instances. He had a 3-month appointment and it was fairly uneventful. Brianna and he said that the doctors just mostly stood there nodding and staring hahaha. He had another MRI to look at his brain and the clot in his vessels from before and it was all looking great! He will not have another follow-up for another few months. This being said, as many of you may know, Jon recently got into medical school and will be moving with Brianna to Erie, PA to start a different kind of medical journey. Continued thoughts and prayers as that journey will begin soon.

Brianna established new neurology care this late winter/early spring. They did another EEG at her new neurology clinic and were able to see some abnormalities that shows that she was already more likely to get seizures. She has continued to be on her seizure medication and her injectable migraine medication. She has still been seizure free since her 2nd seizure, thank you all for praying.

As many know as well that Bruce, Jon's father, passed the end of March due to complications of Alzheimer's. Please continue to pray for Jon and Brianna and the rest of the Blythe family as they navigate these next few weeks and months, especially with Brianna and Jon moving within the next couple of months.

Well everyone it has been a pleasure writing to you in lieu of Brianna and Jon over these past few months. I hope that I only ever see you all in person and in different circumstances. It was great writing to you but not at the same time haha. Thank you all for the meals, donations, prayers, thoughts, good vibes, messages, calls, and support. A large thank you from both Jon and Brianna and the Blythe and Overstreet families!
