John’s Story

Site created on August 3, 2022

We wanted to share with family and friends of our dad John, that he began receiving hospice care today and is in the end stages of his dementia illness (Frontotemporal). He has been struggling with this awful disease for the past couple of years and will be going home to be with Jesus soon.

Jesus told her, “I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again.  He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish. Do you believe this, Martha?”  ~ John 11:25-26

Journal entry by Stacey Kalmus

We wanted to share that Dad went peacefully to be with Jesus at 10:39am this morning. He is gratefully now pain free 🙌.

All three of us kids were able to be with him at the time he passed, and it was our privilege and honor to love on him as he entered heaven.  He had a really special last moment with mom, and actually was aware enough to lift his head up to give her one last kiss until they are reunited again and dancing to "Unchained Melody".

Dad has been joyfully welcomed by many family and friends waiting to embrace him with open arms and celebrate his life well done.

We will be gathering to commemorate Dad's life on Wednesday, August 10th as follows:

Mary Immaculate Church
103 Red Rock Dr
Bovey, MN 55709
- 10am Visitation
- 11am Funeral Service
- 12pm Luncheon

I lieu of flowers,  we invite you to make a donation in dad's name to your favorite charity.

Much love and gratitude to all who loved him 💗
