Journal entry by Joanna Woltja

It has been three months since John’s accident.. John has started driving again and is in the process of being cleared to return to work next week. How he does will determine if he works a full day or just part-time at first. During our last visit to the ENT doctor, we were referred to a Neuro Rehab. It has been determined that John’s dizzy spells and issues with balance are due to “crystals” in his head that need “re-aligned”. I would say this is a diagnosis out of sci-fi if not for several people who have told me they have heard of this. He begins tomorrow and will go once a week for eight weeks. We are slowly dialing back on medications which may also be causing these issues. We purchased a stationary bike to assist with his foot flexibility and to build muscle strength in his legs and foot. (Although he is walking in regular shoes without assistance, he tires easily and cannot walk for long periods), On the surface it appears that things are beginning to get back to normal, but we are both nervous about how he will do next week trying to return to work. I notice subtleties in conversation that things still aren’t connecting quite right. Overall things are good, so much more than we could have hoped for 3 months ago. I believe there will be a significant amount of healing that will need to continue and perhaps will never be quite the same, but we will accept the challenges gratefully. I most likely will not be posting to this sight after today, my sincere thanks to everyone for your positive energy, prayers and love. Please continue to pass this along to others who may be struggling. Joanna
