Journal entry by Kristina Vidziunas —
On Monday January 11th, John was rushed into emergency surgery due to complications from his C diff infection. Part of John's sigmoid colon was removed in a colostomy and John was given an ostomy bag. John returned home from the hospital on Sunday and has been recovering from the major surgery since. He is trying to adjust to the new changes of having an ostomy bag and his incision wound causes him a lot of pain. It has been a rough week for John and my family but we are trying to remain hopeful throughout these challenging times. I often reflect on how fortunate my family is that we have each other to rely on even when it seems like the world is caving in.
