Journal
We just went to an oncology appointment. We are still waiting on one more test result, but my dad has had a "complete response to treatment, with ongoing maintenance." That means the chemo drugs have worked, and he has under 1% of blast cells in his bone marrow, which is what we are trying to get rid of.
He's going to continue getting chemo infusions - we don't have an end date on that yet - and he'll probably be taking the chemo pill for the rest of his life. My understanding is that his bone marrow will continue making the blast cells, so we have to keep fighting them off. There is always the chance that there will be some kind of mutation in his bone marrow, but that's just a chance. Right now things are looking great! We are very relieved.
Happy New Year!
