Journal entry by Carolyn Dennis

Great news received yesterday:
The surgeon’s office called to tell us the results of the pathology report from John’s surgery last week. All margins are clear!

That means that no further treatment is needed. Removing the right kidney takes care of the issue since the tumor was contained within it and did not spread.

He will be monitored by his urologist for the next five years, as is the case after completion of most cancer treatments.

John is relatively pain free and off of all painkillers at this point. He is pretty tired which is to be expected for at least another month after the major surgery he underwent on April 7th.

We can’t say enough good things about the caliber of the staff at St. Joseph (main) Hospital in Lexington.

To our friends, family and neighbors, the incredible support you have shown has been so very appreciated!

We don’t plan any further posts since John seems to be well down the road to regaining his health.

Now that we’re both vaccinated, we look forward to gradually restarting some of the many trips we’ve planned since retiring. Don’t expect to see John out & about immediately but soon, very soon, you’ll likely hear his wonderful laugh again!
