ST. VINCENT IMPLEMENTS TEMPORARY VISITOR RESTRICTION POLICY TO PROTECT AGAINST INFLUENZABy: St. VincentJanuary 09, 2019 |

Indiana is experiencing a significant increase in influenza-like illnesses (commonly known as flu). In an effort to protect our patients, families, visitors, and associates, as well as limit the spread of the virus, St. Vincent is implementing a temporary Visitor Restriction Policy to be in place by January 9, 2019. This temporary restriction at all ministries will assist us in limiting the spread of influenza and ensuring that we are best equipped to provide exceptional care to our patients.

Tier 1 – Least Restrictive Option

  • Signage stating visitor restrictions are in effect
  • Masks/supplies positioned at all entrances and key areas
  • All families/guests/volunteers/vendors/staff must be vigilant about handwashing and covering coughs
  • Restricting visitation to immediate family, as identified by the patient
  • Restricting those under 18 years of age
  • Restricting those with symptoms suggestive of influenza

The temporary restriction is in effect at the following St. Vincent ministries:

  • Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St.Vincent - Two designated caregivers only
  • St. Vincent Anderson
  • St. Vincent Carmel
  • St. Vincent Clay
  • St. Vincent Dunn
  • St. Vincent Fishers
  • St. Vincent Heart Center
  • St. Vincent Indianapolis
  • St. Vincent Jennings
  • St. Vincent Kokomo
  • St. Vincent Mercy
  • St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital
  • St. Vincent Randolph
  • St. Vincent Salem
  • St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital
  • St. Vincent Stress Center
  • St. Vincent Williamsport
  • St. Vincent Women’s - Parents and grandparents only in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Neonatal Continuing Care (NCC)

We recognize the hardship that these restrictions can place on our community members visiting loved ones in our ministries, and that flu cases at every site aren’t spiking simultaneously – but this season’s strain of flu has already resulted in significant harm in Indiana. We will continue to monitor flu activity with local and state agencies and assess when restrictions can be lifted.

Thank you for maintaining a healthy environment for our patients, families and fellow associates.
