Newest Update

Journal entry by John Dixon

I started getting a few people asking me how things are going with my treatments moving forward.  Then I looked back and saw that it had been a while so I thought it was time to give an update.  Thinking it out further, I thought what a better day to do it then the day our Lord Jesus Christ was born to celebrate all things.  For those that really know me, you will find the part about me thinking it out further pretty funny.

So I did return to Houston on December 9th to do new scans and see how the new treatments were working.  The results were wonderful.  I know that it is probably hard for some of you to understand this since the cancer is still in my body but the words "Nothing New" for me just make me start crying and hugging whoever is in the room.  They all just know its coming now.  So moving forward, we will continue the immunotherapy maintenance treatment and I will return to Houston in March for another check.  What a great Christmas present God brought myself and my family.  So today we are singing songs of thankfulness and goodness to His name.  That is all I needed for Christmas for sure.

I do still have some people that I need my prayer warriors to keep praying for please.

Ed - This guy still calls me from time to time to build me up and he has been on a journey that makes mine look like a trip to the store.  Ed has been approved to get a new kidney but we need so much prayer for a donor.

Gary - He is out in Texas at MD right now.  It was wonderful to be able to see he and Margaret while I was out there.  He is battling on right now and we need to lift him and the family up as he is preparing for a blood transplant.

Troy - This guy is my partner in crime. Lol,  Dealing with liver cancer and just started a relatively new radiation treatment at Mayo in Jacksonville.  I am pretty sure that between us and all of our radiation that at the candlelight service at church last night that with the lights down we probably glowed enough for everyone.

For Roger, Jody and Jeff that I have had on the list before, they are all moving forward with great results  but lets just keep them in prayer for continued healing.

Ok, so you all know that you never get off without a little of what God has been sharing with me.  The other day I received a scripture from my good friend Chris Morhardt.  The scripture was Isaiah 9:6.   For those that remember back to the Charlie Brown Christmas special that we waited for so anxiously when we were kids, I believe it was Linus that read this.  Ok,  I still get excited about it coming on.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

These words are so wonderful but to me what makes this so amazing is that Isaiah is prophesying this 700 years before it came to be.   Gods plan is perfect.

How good is our God that He would send His son to live with us on this earth to save us from what we certainly deserved because He loves us more then we will ever understand.

My hope and my prayer for all of you is that you have a wonderful day today.  But that you take some time to reflect on this miracle that God provided for us and how Good He is to us.

Love you all and will update in March.
