John’s Story

Site created on July 8, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

John was taken to WRMC by ambulance on Tuesday, July 7th after experiencing a mild heart attack at home.  He was admitted and they planned to keep him overnight to monitor the situation.  John had some heart damage that led the doctors to believe that he had already had a mild heart attack in the past couple of weeks.  Then shortly after midnight on July 8th he suffered a massive heart attack.    His heart stopped completely and after performing CPR he was placed on a ventilator and sedated.  He is currently in the Critical Care Unit and has been somewhat responsive as of this morning.

Currently their main concerns are the extensive damage to his heart, the acute kidney failure and the shock to his body from being resuscitated leaving him relying on the ventilator to breath.

Marilee, Jonna, Debra and his grandchildren would appreciate your prayers during this time.  We will update this site as we learn more about his condition.

If anyone can come back from this it is JOHN BRODBECK!

Journal entry by Emily Harrison

John was so many things to so many people.  He left this world a better place because he lived the Rotary motto Service Above Self.  His impact on this world will continue through so many of us who were mentored and loved by him.

Remember the meal train for the family and please keep them all in your prayers as they process and grieve the loss of this wonderful man.

Below is the Facebook post from his daughter.

At 10:10 last night, my strong Dad, gained his angel wings. The rehab hospital called to let me know that he had gone into cardiac arrest again and were transferring him to Washington Regional. The ER doctor told us that they worked on him for over an hour and were able to bring him back 3 times but his heart could not sustain a rhythm. Half of his heart was not pumping and they could not save him. As you can imagine, we are devastated. Please pray for my family as we grieve the loss of a man who was our whole world.💔💔

Rest in peace my dear friend.

XOXO
