Journal entry by Kaylee Mund

Joseph J. Bear, age 58, of Prior Lake passed away on November 15, 2023.

Joe graduated from Prior Lake High School with the class of 1983. He worked for Rupp Industries, traveling the country,  for many years, and most recently was an HVAC supervisor at Mystic Lake.

Joe enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing and riding his motorcycle.

He loved music, and although he didn't play or sing, he enjoyed recording music for others in his home studio.

He was an avid cook and passionate about smoking and grilling food and even processed his own meat, grew vegetables in his garden and made his very own special hot sauce that he loved to share with his neighbors, friends, and family.

He will be best remembered for his big heart,  his unforgettable "bear hug," and how proud he was to be called "Grandpa Joe."

He is proceeded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Vonnie Bear, his brother, Jack, and sister Janelle.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Graves, of Prior Lake, his granddaughter Avery Graves, of Farmington, nephews Lucas Bear (Kelly), of Belle Plaine and Danny Bear, of Prior Lake, loving cousins, aunts, uncles and his best friend and beloved dog, Jewel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 11th at 1:00 pm at The Pointe Bar and Grill in Prior Lake.
