Joe’s Story

Site created on August 16, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
After having some swallowing issues and stomach/chest pain for a few months,  Joe, had an endoscopy earlier this month. Unfortunately, a large mass was discovered in his stomach. We learned that this cancer is a  Stage 2 bulky lymphoma. Joe underwent his first  cycle of immunotherapy and chemotherapy today. He was a rock star!! We just ask for your prayers as we move forward for minimal side effects, and great relief for our hero! ❤️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lisa Heyerman

Dad had chemo cycle # 4 today.  2 weeks from now they will do a PET scan to make sure the tumor is shrinking. He is not having swallowing issues or stomach pain anymore though, so we feel pretty confident that it has diminished significantly . They are having a little harder time getting the IV started on him. I hate that because it means more pokes and digging . But he continues to be a rock star. As my sweetheart sister mentioned in her last update, my mom is amazing. She is right there beside him and willing to help with absolutely anything. They are quite a team.  They are the epitome of true love and dedication . He doesn’t have a ton of hair left, but he is a cute baldy.  ❤️ Please continue to send prayers his way. We appreciate them so very much.
                                                Love to all, Lisa
