Joe’s Story

Site created on November 10, 2022

On Monday joe went to the emergency complaining of chest and arm pain, in a short few hours we discovered he was having a heart attack. We were then transferred to Adventist hospital in Portland Oregon.

There they did a cath lab procedure where they discovered over a 70% blockage or his left main coronary artery known as a widow maker. He was also diagnosed with rsv which tended to throw a wrench in the plan. It was decided he needed open heart surgery as soon as possible but with enough time to let him recover a little from rsv.

Friday morning joe will undergo his CABG procedure with one of the best cardiac teams around. We’ve been blessed with the top cardiothoracic surgeon and team.

We decided to do start this page to give everyone updates. I please ask that during the next few weeks please give Beth and Joe space and time to heal and recover from this surgery. All updates will be provided here and if you have any questions you can ask here or contact any of there wonderful children.

Again thank you for the outpouring of love and prayers through this difficult time.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lexy Nickerson

The update we have all been waiting for…
Joe has made it home!
Wednesday was his follow up apt at Adventist and they gave Joe the all clear! They continued to be impress with Joe’s recovery however they have stressed and urged the importance of Joe sticking to his rules of recovery. Joe will still be traveling to a cardiologist for check ins every so often to The Dalles in Oregon.  Nurse Beth has also grown into her new role and together they are going to rock this.
They began their journey home Wednesday with a stop in hood river overnight and then continued the rest of the journey today.
Now that they’re back in tri cities they will begin to find their new normal in this stage of recovery. Updates to this page will continue however they will be more spaced out. Now that the scariest part is behind them you may also reach out to joe and Beth just know they are still being poured with love so responses make take awhile!
We thank everyone for your continued prayers and love through this unexpected journey.
