Journal entry by Jackie Jerde —
Joel had another good CT scan today. There is still some swelling and blood from his previous brain bleed, but no new bleeds. His neurologist is very pleased with this scan.
He is on a low dose of heparin to hopefully prevent clotting, but will hold off for a week or so before they will give him Lovenox (blood thinner) to give his brain more time to heal.
He continues with intense therapy and is getting stronger every day. The highlight of his day was taking a shower. (Oh the little things in life😉)
He had a surprise lunch date- his nieces came for a quick visit between therapy sessions. They were a bright spot to his day.
We are still looking at Joel being at Courage Kenny at least till the end of May. Our hope and prayer this the case. He is working hard at gaining his independence.
A huge thank you to those who have taken the time to come and visit him! He appreciates the company and loves to visit. It helps pass the time. If you would like to visit Joel, just send me a message and I’ll tell you where to find him.
Love you all,
Jackie
