Journal entry by Joseph Fahey —
Late Friday - New Year’s Eve
Late with this entry. That’s caused by a combination of not knowing exactly what to say…AND, even more so, struggling with how to say it.
What a journey this past seventeen months has been! The highs and lows of JoeJoe’s treatment, rehabilitation, and remission could never have been imagined. The experience of witnessing JoeJoe put one foot in front of the other to deal with chemo, radiation, and all the ensuing complications was a life lesson. It provided an immense appreciation for the patients who must address these challenges…and for those who assist them in doing so.
JoeJoe is doing very well…personally and professionally. He may be as contented/peaceful/happy as he has ever been. This is due not only to a frequent self-assessment, but also to the uncompromising support of friends and family. The support of J2N has been invaluable since Day One!
JoeJoe continues to take baby steps in specific areas that could require years for total recovery. While an irritant, he is fine with it. Damn good trade considering the troubling thoughts that had to enter his mind in early July, 2020!
This will be the last entry for 2021…and beyond. JoeJoe is on a positive path with his remission and his life. This chapter is ended, but it’s with grateful appreciation for your involvement we look forward to the continuation of JoeJoe’s journey.
Drop by Burwell’s Stone Fire Grill in Chucktown sometime and say hello to JoeJoe. You are part of the journey!
Happy New Year!
Dad Joe
