Journal entry by Marcia Hernick —
Monday Joe had an appointment at Regions that started with a scan of his kidney. Results of scan showed the kidney looked much better so the drain was removed without any complications. As the lack of complications isn’t the norm these days I was surprised to hear the procedure was completed in about 10 minutes. Joe did not need to be sedated so we were able to leave the hospital shortly after. Tuesdays visit to lab and Oncologist in the am. Dr Kolla delayed cancer treatment until next week as Joe is still on the antibiotics. Saw the Infectious Disease Dr in the afternoon and so far all the cultures have been negative. Very glad however perplexing as there is no explanation for the kidney issue. A couple more tests are still in progress so hopefully the reason is found soon. As of now his kidney is looking much better. He is however dealing with the residual discomfort of where the drain had been but at least it is removed.
