Journal entry by Dori Vredenburg

I’m stuck in a moment of “pinch me, so I can wake up.”
On 8/15/23, the doctor did not believe dad would make it through the end of the year; at that time the lymphoma just wasn’t responding to any treatment. The doctor said even if it did respond, there was a 50% chance he would survive through 2023 and a 25% chance he will be here through 2024. Dad’s response was, “they’re doctors, not God.” It was tough but we did our best to hold onto faith. I have to say, for a moment, I was really angry at God.  Still we prayed for a miracle.
Friday, 10/27/23, Dad had a PET scan. As to be expected, PET scans and the day’s leading to them are always saturated with anxiety. I asked dad, the week before if he was scared; he said he just wanted it to show improvement because he’s, “just tired.”
We prayed, and many of you joined us!
Today we received our miracle!!! Not only did the scan show improvement, but DAD IS IN REMISSION!!! You read that right, there is no evidence of cancer on his scan! Praise Jesus! All Glory to God!!!
He will continue chemotherapy every 3 weeks into January. We ask that we all continue to pray that the Lymphoma will never come back! Thank you all for continuing to support us and all the ways you’ve kept our spirits up. Most of all we thank you, Jesus! God is so Good!
