Journal entry by Sharon Dudziak —
Hi all! Just an update!
I had my annual checkups with my cardiologist and oncologist.
The cardiologist’s physicians’ assistant said the new valve is working well. Since I’m not moooing, the calf valve is assisting and has not taken over, yet! The pacemaker continues to work OK. I certainly feel much better since the valve was installed. Otherwise, my heart functions remain stable, at least stable for me and my age. I guess as long as it’s still beating that’s a good sign.
For any of you who thought I was heartless, you were partially right. Part of my heart is, and has not been, working for some time.
No signs of the cancer returning. Apparently, after 5 years the chances of it returning are greatly diminished….so three years left. Hell, in 3 years, I’ll be an old man!
I’ve avoided Covid so far. I get all the vaccinations and since I had chemo, I’m considered at risk with a compromised immune system. That means I get a notice anytime a new booster is available urging me to get the shot immediately. They are so efficient, I continue to get reminders for weeks after I get the shot. I guess they want to make sure! Or, maybe the computers just have nothing else to do!
So, considering the wild life I’ve led, I guess things are OK. I treasure every extra moment!
Thanks for your interest and support.
You all stay well and take care,
Joe
