Journal entry by Jodi Hale —
I was reminded this week that this even exists. I had my implant surgery (#christmastitties) on the 10th, and recovery has been super easy. They look lovely. Life is moving right along.
Menopause finds me eating an alarming amount of naughty food (moo), sweating and freezing and sweating all day every day (ew), and sleeping like a baby- not because my sleep is amazingly peaceful and serene, but because babies wake up off and on all night long, guys (boo).
They will not declare me cured or even in remission unless 5 years passes without recurrence. Interestingly, they will not scan or regularly do anything in particular to look for recurrence. I'm told if it returns it will be elsewhere in the body, and I will likely know because it will hurt.
2018 started and ends as the cancer year, but also as the year I got lots of extra time with my son (who is currently harassing me to go get him some milk) and I'm grateful for that.
Since I am officially neither cured or in remission, I officially declare myself to have "survivor" status, and I hope to never have news to post here again! 🥛🥂
