Jodi’s Story

Site created on April 19, 2018

I’m starting this caring bridge site for my sister, Jodi, not only to give family and friends updates as she goes through this journey. I also wanted to do this for Jodi, so she can read positive thoughts and prayers from everyone.
On April 4, 2018, Jodi had her routine mammogram and within an hour the doctor office called to give some troubling news and they needed to take a closer look at some things they spotted.  She went in the next morning to have an ultrasound, and they decided to biopsy a mass, and two additional, prominent lymph nodes.  Our family stayed very positive and prayed endless prayers for our Jodi. We were told results would be on Monday.  She received a call from doctor Friday morning and heard those dreadful words that no one ever wants to hear, CANCER!!
Tuesday was a day of appointments with her breast surgeon and oncologist to go through the treatment plan.  Things sounded as positive as things could be given her diagnosis. She would have chemo, surgery, and radiation due to her mass and the 2 lymph nodes that they knew were involved.  Her oncologist wanted to order a PET scan to look for any other areas that the cancer could have spread to. Jodi, once again, was hit with words she never wanted to hear.  More nodes were involved than originally seen and one node above clavicle, that would most likely be inoperable.  Stage 3 breast cancer! Her coarse of treatment has changed.  They will be more aggressive and they will add another chemo medicine, also her coarse of treatment will last longer than planned. She will also have 33 rounds of radiation. Surgery is still on agenda but as far as what will be all involved is yet to be determined.

Jodi’s world has changed ever since she heard these words. I believe her family and all of us have changed.  Please pray the Lord will touch her with his healing hand and gives her the comfort and strength she needs to fight this battle!  Also, pray for Marc, Michael, and Gracie as they endure this journey with her, every step of the way. She is a strong woman and has an army of people praying for her.  We love you so much!!

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Journal entry by nichole weigel

Jodi finished her sixth treatment today. So she is half way done. I know she is counting down the weeks as her family and friends are doing the same. No labs or doctor appointment today as that will be next week. Pray that things continue to go in the right direction for her and Jodi’s health is able to handle the rest of her treatments. Big thanks to Jodi’s friend, Kristi, for taking her to treatment and keeping her company.
