Today I am grateful for getting to meet with  Dr. Rodriguez. Overall, a good appointment.

Please keep her and her family in your prayers. It sounds like it is her school aged child who is sick with cancer :(

Rodriguez is coming back some- scheduling out 1 month at a time, part time. She will keep me on as a patient. She is hoping to get an RN just for her and her patients.
Most importantly for me, she says there is still hope. There are still treatments we can try. We will be creative in our approach, but that is SOP for my journey. She requested more information from biopsy -specific info, as well as, latest markers. She wants me to go to the UCDavis trials team, I have appointment next week. At this point, she says we might very well look into some of the early trials as a “Hail Mary” things have changed and getting the appointment is a good thing.
Depending on the markers report from biopsy, wants to start me on a targeted treatment -Kisqali and wants me back on faslodex shots by end of week. Kisqali is similar to Ibrance- which I went on successfully for a couple years. It helps slow cancer progression by interfering with cell growth patterns.

Today recommended me back to radiology for right hip. Yes, I just finished a week in radiation last week. I spoke with Dr. Lee (radiologist) a little later today. He wants to be sure I don’t have a fracture to my hip. If not looking at a 1 time shot in sacrum as I’ve already had it there. The pain for my hip is making walking difficult /painful and I’m not walking correctly, which in turn is making my back spasm due to trying to hold myself just right to avoid pain (ironic..huh)

Tomorrow I have a follow up with palliative care nurse- Janelle. She is great! She’s working closely with me to get pain management on track and get the support needed when needed. I met with her for 45 minutes last week, created and started a new plan, now meeting for review and adapt as needed. Going on opioids was a challenge for me, but a necessary step to ease some pain and keep on living.

Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers, kind messages, etc. it has been quite the ride the past 6 months, and to have renewed hope is an unexpected blessing.  One I won’t take for granted. I truly hope my journey has some steam left in the engines…as we’ve still got lots to do

Love to All
Jodie
