JoAnn’s Story

Site created on December 14, 2022

The Goerdt Family would like to use CaringBridge to keep our wonderful community of friends and family updated on Jo's journey with Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma. Jo was admitted to the hospital on 11/28/22 due to escalating symptoms of impaired memory and balance that started subtly at the beginning of November. She was found to have multiple brain masses consistent with lymphoma, which was confirmed on 12/2/22 as diffuse large B cell lymphoma. We will be posting as we have new information. The kids are all home at this time providing support. Kate and Clare are taking leave from work and Ben is working at home to be here. We understand that many are looking for ways to help, and we will keep you updated on what the family may need at this time. In the meantime, we appreciate your prayers , support , words of hope, and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Chris Goerdt

More good news! After 5 weeks of maintaining her weight off tube feeds, Jo's stomach feeding tube was pulled last Friday and she's healing well. Her appetite continues to normalize and she's even been hungry on a couple of occasions. She's working hard to improve her balance and gait. Her now black and curly hair (called chemo curls) recently required cutting for the first time in a year. We'll continue to monitor for recurrence, but we hope this is our last Caring Bridge report.

Words can't express our thanks for everyone's support during this difficult journey.
