Joan’s Story

Site created on November 14, 2020

On September 14, Joan was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a cancer of the bone marrow.  She started chemotherapy immediately. We are encouraged by the treatments introduced within the last couple of years and the fantastic care she is receiving through the CentraCare team in St. Cloud.

Joannie feels incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many family and friends, 'both human and furry' during this time.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Melissa Jancourt

Hello Everyone,
This is Melissa, Joannie's daughter, with an update on Mom's celebration of life service and party.
On Friday, August 6 at 1pm at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina MN, we will have a service to remember and celebrate Joannie's life. There will be a reception immediately following the service hosted by dear friends who live just a couple of blocks from the church.
Like many who lost loved ones during the last year and a half, we decided to hold off on this event until we could safely gather. Chris, Jen, Jan and I are excited to finally give mom a proper send off.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to a scholarship fund established in her name in celebration of her decades-long commitment to early childhood education.
