Journal

On Monday the 18th, I had my robotic colon resection surgery at Maine Medical Center. I checked in at 7:40 and went into surgery at 9:10. I was in surgery for 4 hours and in recovery for about another 4. Needless to say, it was a long day. I finally got settled into a room around 5:30. After 2 nights in the hospital, I was cleared to go home and continue recovery there. Today, almost 2 weeks later, I am feeling better but still have significant fatigue and soreness and have another 2-4 weeks to get back to “normal”.

The best news is that I received the pathology report in MyChart last night. While I haven’t met with a doctor to review the results, the key takeaway from what I read is no evidence of active cancer in the 6” of colon removed and the 19 surrounding lymph nodes are also negative.

Over the next weeks, I will have follow ups with my oncologist and surgeon as well as beginning an aggressive chemo regimen. I will also be meeting with different transplant programs to discuss liver transplant options and next steps.

Thank you all who continue to follow my journey. This long road continues and I’m grateful for the support.
