50 years ago today, Jim Thomes married Kathy Schletz.

August 24, 1970. 

That warm August day was just the beginning of an amazing lifetime together.

As Tara and Kevin celebrated 25 years in June, and Jerry and I 22 years in January, we realize the countless lessons about marriage we learned from our parents. 

- Be honest.
- Be patient.
- Be generous.
- Be accepting. 

What an incredible example they were. 

I wish they were celebrating together today.  Raising a glass and reflecting on the joy of the last five decades.

My wish won’t come true.  But still, I am so thankful they had over 48 years of marriage together.  What a beautiful adventure they had.
