Jim’s Story

Site created on June 26, 2018

We were on vacation in Branson, Mo on May 30 and were at Bible study when Jim had what we now know was a focal seizure! Symptoms were indicative of a stroke. We immediately took him to the ER. He was admitted to Skaggs Cox Hospital from ER after a stroke work up. No bleed was found.Upon further evaluation an MRI the next day showed a Rt temporal mass. For 36 hours his condition continued to deteriorate! He responded very sluggish required a lot of assistance to ambulate. Sleeping most of the time. He suddenly made a miraculous recovery on Friday. Wakened up and was able to ambulate with walker. Saturday so improved he was discharged back to our timeshare condo! Wonderful to have Wendy, Heidi, Chris and Josh all able to drive in to help make further decisions.

So many memories flooding through my mind today as I remember last year the day of Jim's surgery to remove his brain tumor. We did appreciated all the support that day family and friends waiting with us and many praying  for us  and standing by from afar. And then the dreaded report that it was a glioblastoma! But a little hope since 99% was removed leaving him without deficits! It has been a long difficult journey but all of our family are recovering from our great loss of Dad who we felt we couldn't survive without. He left us a great example of courage in adversity and Godly example to follow and we will survive! Once again I want to thank everyone who prayed and have stood by us this last year! I will share some pictures of the morning of surgery! The long wait and seeing him in ICU after his 7 hr surgery! So wonderful to see him awake and visiting with us! Then the dread of telling him the next day the diagnosis and treatment! We are thankful for the 5 1/2 months we were given with our special Dad!
