Journal entry by Jean Sands —
So...Jim had a few good weeks of recovery, then started having shortness of breath, which got progressively worse. They had been trying to treat it outpatient, but admitted him to the hospital on Monday 2/8 to treat it more aggressively. After a lot of different tests and medications, his cardiologist has determined that both sides of his heart muscle are very weak and not responding to treatment. He is looking into either putting in a mechanical pump,or a heart transplant.
Working with the specialists now to determine the best plan, and the best place to transfer him to.
He is stable today, on several medications,.and vasopressors, but it is a temporary fix.
Hope to get lots more info in the.next.couple of days.
