Jim’s Story

Site created on June 18, 2021

Hello loved ones and friends! This site was a way to get updates on Jim Reid's recovery. Jim fell during a hike along the Mississippi river on June 14, causing a broken vertebrae, four broken ribs, a torn ligament in his neck, and a bruise on his spine. He underwent a successful surgery on his spine (spinal fusion anterior cervical discectomy) on June 16. He was cared for by an incredible team at Courage Kenny and his kids nearby- Larissa and Tyler, Scott and Katie- and Kelsey afar in CA. We are grateful for all of your support and prayers.

Journal entry by James Reid

  • Tomorrow is the time to be thankful, remember good times, and embrace those who enrich our lives.
  • I’m thankful for a lot of things, but I’m most thankful for all your support, care, love and encouragement throughout my medicial recovery.
  • It's certainly not been quick or easy and no-one  ever promised me it would. They did warn me, this is a long, long road, needing marathon type determination.           I was told, you will make progress and other times, not. You will be in pain and significant discomfort, although the alternatives are far worse.
  • To each and everyone of you, even if you, just for a moment, thought to wish me a successful recovery, I am forever in your debt. I truly believe each of your efforts made a difference that I am blessed with, this Thanksgiving.
  • So, tomorrow is another time I will be thankful, for you.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, all those you care for and care for you! Jim

  • PS: This picture is of what seemed like just such a natural 2021 Halloween attire. Now, very fortunately, the body bace and neck collar are only needed for costume.
