Journal entry by Kathy Prekker

We made it to Courage Kenny! The kids helped me with getting Jim into and out of the car and I drove him there this morning.  THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! And beyond anything I could have ever have imagined.

Jim and Cory waited in the car while Kalli and I went in to get him checked in. I went to the desk and met Laura, who knew immediately who I was checking in.

Laura proceeds to tell us she is the HUC. I said what is that?  Laura says” I’m the MOTHERHUCKER here! AKA health unit coordinator for your floor! Omg we died laughing SO HARD, As her coworker couldn’t contain herself. I knew right then and there we were in the right spot!! 🤣🤣🤣

Mason who worked on getting us there, greeted us, came with a wheelchair to the car. When we arrived to the room a nurse was waiting for all of our paperwork. Mason came back and went though an entire folder of information, answered our questions, got Jim lunch. PT and OT came in, Taylor and Kayli. Super awesome personalities and so knowledgeable, did evaluations, got him walking down the hallway on the railing within 2 hours of being there! Simply amazing!

saw a therapy dog within an hour and she did some tricks for us! 🥰

Speech therapy came in. Took him for eval. Gave his feedback and spoke to us like real humans going through as a life tragedy. Suggested getting in a support group of like people at the facility and psychology sessions. I was about crying just listening to him speak.

Jim will get 1 hour each of PT and OT each day along with 45 min of speech, 6 days a week.

The gym and therapy rooms are huge! We are authorized for 20 days. And then review to see where we are at.

I’ll post more soon! 😊😊 today was great!!
