We are very excited to share the great news of improvement over the past week!
After a visit with the back surgeons at Midwest Spine & Brain Institute on Friday, all was good news. The xrays show that the bones are healing very nicely. He gave the go-ahead to wean off of his "turtle shell" over the next few weeks and to become even more independant!!
Think bathroom.
He will continue to use the walker to aide in stability until he can strengthen his leg and pelvic muscles. In- office and at home PT are hard work, but that is going really well.  We have been taking advantage of the nice December weather and country roads, walking up to 4 powerline poles! He tends to push things, and his body likes to tell him to slow down and he does listen, but otherwise, he feels good. Sleep has improved as well. Naps and rest for recovery are a good thing. Just can't believe how fast a day can go by.

Considering all he has been through the past few months, his recovery has been remarkable and we are so happy and proud of him! Being able to celebrate Christmas with Shauna, Eric, Levi, McKayla, & Maverick at their house has been a big part of the healing process. And we can't forget about Tasha, she always seems excited to see us and ready to give us her licks of love and paw to hold. She's pretty much got them all wrapped around her, so I'm sure she will be in shock when she comes back home, but now that Jim can sit on the couch, she will be happy that her spot is still waiting for her between us! They will keep each other company once I return to work!

His plans are to return to work in Feb. Small steps. He won't be running any marathons, but he is looking forward and that's a good thing.

It has been great hearing from you all and keeping in touch as best as possible. Your kindness, words, visits, cards, actions, & prayers have not gone unnoticed. You have made a difference in a life that means so very much to us and while everything can seem so overwhelming at times, we can't forget about you. We want to take this opportunity to say how grateful and appreciative we are for all the care and support you have offered. Thank you.

Wishing you all the best in the new year. Life brings many gifts, it also comes with much sorrow and loss that we are never prepared for. We continue to learn from life experiences and choose to move forward when unexpected circumstances give us no other choice. Share your light and live with a spark!

Happy New Year
