Jim’s Story

Site created on October 7, 2018

THIS IS NOT A FUNDRAISING SITE, donations go directl to CaringBridge to help them fund their website. We are using this wonderful service to keep family and friends updated in one place, and to collect your well wishes and messages in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. On 10/6 Jim suffered a idiopathic ventricular defibrillation cardiac arrest (electrical malfunction) at a  family wedding and had to be revived by CPR and multiple AED shocks. They got his pulse back and his heart was beating on its own. We are at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington. He is stable and making good strides, but we have a long way to go. This site will be updated daily. Please pray for a full recovery for Jim. He is so loved by so many, especially his family.  We appreciate overwealming number of calls, texts, emails... please excuse our berevity in our response and check this site for updates. Please do not send anything to the hospital yet as he cannot accept anything until he is out of ICU.  Once we are out of ICU we will let you know the room number for flowers, cards

Newest Update

Journal entry by Nicole McClung

This will be the last Caring Bridge entry we will make on my dad. He is doing so incredibly well, last on the list of things to do is get the filter removed that had been placed for the leg blood clots in the hospital. They are returning to Bozeman next week and he will have the procedure done there. My parents have been in Arizona since December and they are enjoying the warmer winter climate and being able to be outside.

There will never be an adequate way to say thank you to all the people who walked through this with us. It was a terribly traumatic event, that turned into the biggest miracle we have ever witnessed. God is so good. He was good and faithful even when things looked dark, grim and hopeless. He is good all the time. My faith has always been strongly rooted in Jesus, but those 21 days shaped me and changed me more than anything I have experienced in my 34 years of life. Below is a letter from my dad, to all of you. We love you. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you ever want to check in please feel free to email me at tnmcclung@gmail.com

My parents also wanted to add the love and grace that Brett, Kelly and Kelly's parents showed them during this time was incredible. They realize months of planning went into the wedding -yet their care and concern was 100% for my parents and not themselves. Such kind and loving hearts!

From Jim:

It was 4:12 a.m. this morning and once again I find myself in Prayer of Thanks for each breath, each day. Humbled by the outpouring of love and good wishes that continue to flow my way. But always searching for the answer of “why me Lord?” On October 6th, 2018 the world I knew stopped in its tracks for me. Because of the instant response of my guardian angels (Marc McGree, George Skuletich, Meghan Traylor, Justin Schwartzenberger, Krissy Graham, Katelyn Stetzner, Riley Vetter  and so, so many others) a second chance at life was bestowed on me by the grace of God. Never question the power of prayer. I was overwhelmed by the sea of prayers for my recovery.

I have been told I am a MIRACLE MAN by my doctors, family and friends. However, I firmly believe the miracle was the hand of God which put me in a place where all the stars aligned. My recovery would not be possible without the unconditional love I have received from so many. Then there is FAMILY (a take a book to list them all)–who were and are my rock and my reason for being driven to recover. Special shout out to Charlie and Cathy Mitchell who opened their hearts and home to my family.  My love, my partner, my nurse, mother of our children, Judy, who has put 100% of herself into my recovery(also my personal UBER driver.) Nicole, Mike and Matt who were by my side with a love that made me so proud!

I am so blessed to let you know that my recovery is well on track and the doctors expect me to embrace my second chance at 100% (plus a bonus defibulator) . There are no words to express my gratitude, thanks to all who have been there in person and in spirit throughout this journey of life.

Signing off from Caring Bridge,

God Bless!
