Jimmy’s Story

Site created on August 27, 2023

On 8/13, Jimmy was experiencing involuntary arm twitches that eventually morphed into uncontrollable back to back seizures. He was unable to stay conscious after each seizure, and was not able to breathe sufficiently on his own. He was airlifted to Essentia Hospital in Duluth that day and was admitted to the hospital on the basis of uncontrolled seizures without a known etiology. He was intubated and sedated for 3 days. He received MRIs, EEGs, CT scans, lab work, and X-Rays. These tests determined that Jimmy is battling a Stage 4 Glioblastoma which is brain cancer. Hr was given a treatment plan of radiation, chemotherapy, and physical therapy to gain back what was lost while intubated and sedated.

We are hoping that we can give him some financial assistance at this time - he will not be able to work for the time being. If you know my Dad, he's a hard worker and this is one of many big changes that have come with this new territory of being diagnosed with brain cancer. He is the kind of man who would do anything for anyone - he'd give you his last dollar and the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Jimmy is a fantastic friend, wonderful person, and the best Dad in the whole wide world. All donated money will go to bills, food, and transportation expenses to take a load off of my dad while he receives his treatments.

Please also consider sending prayers, love, virtual hugs, long-distance high fives, or even a message saying "I support you, Jimmy!" - anything at all will help him get through this.On 8/13, Jimmy was experiencing involuntary arm twitches that eventually morphed into uncontrollable back to back seizures. Journal entry by Sara Poehler

Haven't posted for a bit. Jimmy has started chemotherapy and radiation. Jimmy has physical therapy during the week that has really been helping him with the left side weakness. I've been spoiling him rotten. From what we know he will have a couple more weeks until he gets sick. He's been so blessed with vistors. He gets tired but they bring his spirits up.
