Journal

Today has been a long time coming.  When Jim first started complaining of a nagging sore throat and earache, I never thought we would end up here but here we are.  Today, after 35 treatments of radiation, 8 rounds of chemo, and surgery for a feeding tube, we are finished with treatment!

It has been a brutal road with burns and sores on Jim’s neck and in his mouth and throat.  He has endured nagging side effects from chemo, learned to communicate through hand gestures, facial expression and writing and yet, maintained what I love about him – his sense of humor. He is miserable right now but glad it is over.

So, from here we start the healing. Jim will go back to the radiation doctor on November 12thand he will see his chemo doctor in 6 weeks.  All of this bloodwork looks good.  The chemo doctor said, “I wish all my chemo patients had a white blood count like you.” Both doctors have indicated that they won’t know how successful these treatments were until the PET scan  in January but they have no reason to feel that there will be anything but good news.

We cannot thank you enough for the texts, calls, cards, Facebook messages, prayers and love we have felt through all of this.  We ask that you continue to pray that Jim is cancer free.

I honestly don’t think we will ever be able to thank you all enough. XOXO
