Jim’s Story

Site created on October 6, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Jim has had an extensive medical history and due to recent events, he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. On Saturday October first he was taken to a medical center near his home in Arizona after feeling "off" for a few days. It was discovered that he had a heart attack. He was airlifted to Lake Havasu, AZ where stints were put in. Early Sunday morning his condition worsened and he was moved to the intensive care unit there. He was intubated and put on a ventilator. Jimmy was again airlifted to a trauma center in Las Vegas for open heart surgery. It was then found that he had a blood clot in his heart chamber as well as 90-100% blockages in his heart. He underwent a quadruple bypass surgery - CABG (Coronary artery bypass surgery). There are concerns about fluid in his lungs at this point as well as circulation in his vascular system which may be affected by complications due to his diabetes. The family appreciates your continued prayers at this time. 🙏❤️ We will continue to update this site, as progress is made.

Journal entry by Rae Burgess

Dad is doing well at home. He says he's feeling "pretty good". He feels lucky to be alive. 💗

He's doing therapy at home and is continuing to get better each day. His voice is still healing (his vocal cords were damaged due to being intubated for so long).

He's thankful for every one's support. He's also grateful to have his doggies by his side keeping him company.
