Jim’s Story

As many of you know, Jim was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic lung cancer this past October. It has advanced and been more aggressive than any of us have expected and he is now in the end stages. This past Sunday he was admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration, pneumonia and kidney failure, and subsequently developed a GI bleed. Due to his advanced cancer and lung issues, advanced treatment was not an option. Jim has entered into hospice care with the family's support.

Jim is a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was an MP with the 4th Infantry Division and served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969.

Jim has touched so many lives over the years and shaped so many young souls through teaching and coaching. His proudest moments were spent at the corner of Ft. Bragg Rd. and Westmont Ave. at St. Patrick's Catholic School.

After 17 years of teaching he found himself a student and embarked on a new passion of computer programming. Being the amazing man he is, not only did he find a great group of friends at FTCC, he found family there as well. After25 years, Jim retired from FTCC in 2017.

Jim has been showered with love from family, friends, and coworkers, as well as former students and athletes. It means more than you will ever know. We thank everyone for your prayers and for sharing your stories and memories.

Jim will be returning home to spend the next days surrounded by his family.

We are sad to say this will be our only update. Our dad (Jim) was able to come home Friday December 15th just as he wanted. After being settled in for just a few brief minutes with his family right by his side he passed peacefully. He is no longer in any pain, and although we wish nothing more to have him with us physically, we know that he is in a much better place and is with us in our hearts. Rest In Peace dad. We love you. ❤️
