Jillian’s Story

Site created on April 14, 2022

On Monday (4/11) our sweet Jillian Renee was diagnosed with HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome), a serious complication from E. Coli poisoning. She is in the ICU at Valley Children’s hospital with her parents, Ryan and Audra.  Jilly is a precious gift from God and we are praying that she would fully recover.

Psalm 121:2 says, “My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

Newest Update

Journal entry by Audra Scheestra

Hi friends and family,

It's been a while since we have updated anyone on Caring Bridge. I tend to post on Instagram and run out of time to throw the post on this site as well. So I apologize. Thank you to everyone that has continued to ask about Jillian and pray for her. What a sweet blessing you guys are!

Hear is her recent health update:

We just had our 4th nephrologist appointment today and we were so happy with how Jilly is improving. Our dr. reported that Jillian's kidneys are now operating at 75%, just a small 3% increase from the last appointment, but we'll take it. Her potassium levels look good, so she'll come off her low potassium diet, but we will probably still not throw foods like bananas into her diet quite yet. She does have protein in her urin, which is expected after the severe damage that her kidneys took. This takes more time to improve. Overall she looks great! She is even warming up to Dr. Xiao. She is awesome and we're so thankful for her!

Jillian did have her first fever since her stay at Valley Childrens along with her first night terror. It definitely brought panic and fear into our hearts again and I had to stop and pray for some calmness and peace. We may also over analyze her poopy diapers all the time in fear of seeing red again. I'm guessing all those that have had children with E. Coli do the same. We know that we will continue to heal with our girl! She's pretty darn special and we can't believe God entrusted us to be her parents! How lucky are we!

Praises:
- We praise our good God for His continued healing.

- We praise God that Jillian get to have a longer gap in between this appointment and next. It means she is doing good.

- We praise God for our friend, sweet Isla and her improvements from HUS and pray that she continues to grow stronger in her health!

Prayer Requests:

- Pray that Jillian's kidneys continue to fully heal.

- Pray that she will continue doing great weaning off of her meds.

- Please also pray for the two families in VCH that each lost a child to HUS recently and off of the others that are currently fighting it.
