Journal entry by Mariah Stark (Holland) —
It's been a while since our last update; life is busy! Mom's had a few trips to the ER and hospital since the last time we updated unless you've been following on Facebook, where most updates have happened. She's back at Foley and doing pretty well, actually. She's been slowly able to talk better, and things are improving. Of course, there are still some issues that may be permanent, and we are still working to figure those things out. This is a very long road with some big up days and some really big down days. It's been quite scary during the few hospital trips as we've almost lost her, but we're grateful she's still here with us and fighting. We saw her today, and she perked right up, said my name, and tried to talk to us. She also gave us hugs and knew exactly how old I was (I recently had a birthday, so I wanted to see if she remembered, and she did!) Still doing tube feeding and therapy, dad was told a few days ago she did really well in physical therapy so hopefully that continues. The main downside is she gets pretty tired, so it can be hard to talk to her, but who wouldn't be tired after the last few months she's had? Hopefully, she can continue to rest and take whatever steps she can in the right direction. I will update you when I am able! Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes, and everything you have. It's been working!
